Types of Workflow Nodes

Describes the different types of workflow nodes available on the .Control platform.

Types of Workflow Nodes

Workflow nodes are categorized into two types -

  1. Menu Node

  2. Action Node

The Menu node defines the interaction between the end-user and the .Control platform. The different types of Menu nodes are described below -

Node Type

Definition

Ask for Input

This menu node allows you to ask the user to enter select information

Display Text

This menu node enables you to display some text to the user

Menu with Options

This allows you to create a menu with different options. Each option can trigger a new menu node, an action node or a new workflow

Multiple Choice Input

You can ask the user to make a selection from a multiple choice list

External Link

This new menu node allows you to call an external web URL and allow the URL to return a single variable result

"Action” nodes

The Action node defines the various internal processes that can be carried out by .Control. The different types of Action nodes are described below -

Node Type

Definition

Date Format

This allows you to reformat a user-entered date into a desired format and define what action follows (either a new step in the workflow or trigger a new workflow)

Display List

This node allows you to retrieve list data for use with a Menu using the Menu with Options node

Encrypt

This option allows you to hash, encode, encrypt any variable(s) before sending the variable to an external API

HTTP Call

You have the ability to call an external API using HTTP, whether the API is from a 3rd party organization or within your organization

Is Empty

This action allows the workflow to verify if a user-input variable is empty or not.

Is Null

This action node allows you to verify if a variable is empty / Null and define what action follows (either a new step in the workflow or trigger a new workflow)

Math

This enables you to perform mathematical operations on variables

Number Format

This action node can reformat a user-entered number into a desired format

Regular Expression

This allows you to match different variables to a regular expressions pattern, and define what action comes next (either a new step in the workflow or trigger a new workflow)

Remap

Remapping and existing any variable to another predefined value

All actions returns either a YES or NO response based on the success of the operation carried out. A new step or workflow can be defined for either result.
